Description
This spring jack is a machined female socket, and the production photograph shows it as a pair of nickel-plated bodies with internal canted coil spring contacts — the two halves of a single mated joint. Machined rather than stamped construction keeps the bore geometry and the barrel dimensions tight, which is what lets the two sides of a pair line up consistently when the housing is assembled.
Machined Body
The bore carries the single-leaf rotary hyperboloid wire contact, with elastic wires angled to the inner sleeve so that inserting the pin deflects them radially and axially and brings several independent wires into contact at once, forming multiple parallel current paths. Gold or silver contact plating can be specified per requirement, and the machined nickel bodies shown are supplied ready for the housing. Bores range from 1.5–30 mm with other sizes customizable; the design offers high contact power density, low insertion and extraction forces, low voltage drop, easy installation and replacement, and high vibration and shock resistance. Because each wire is independent, the contact force is spread around the pin at once, which is how the family reaches high contact power density without pushing up the insertion force.
Typical Applications
Linked to medical, telecom, electric vehicle, aerospace and high-speed rail systems, this jack is used where the dimensional consistency of a machined bore and up to 100,000 cycles of mating life keep maintenance intervals long and joint resistance stable. The machined body is also easy to install and replace in the housing, an advantage for rail and electric vehicle service where downtime is the real cost.
